Neil Cochrane joined Motive Partners in 2016, as part of the founding team and is a Partner on the Investment team.

As a member of the Motive leadership team, he is also a member of the firm’s Growth & Buyout Investment Committee. Neil focuses on strategy, investment thesis, deal origination, execution and value creation for Motive Partners and the firm’s portfolio companies. In addition, Neil is a member of the Investor Advisory Committee for Backbase, and Board Member of LPA, Lyra and With Intelligence, all Motive Partners portfolio companies.

Prior to joining Motive Partners, Neil served as an Investment Director in the Business Services team at AnaCap Financial Partners LLP, where he was involved with a variety of investments and focused on portfolio company management. He was responsible for managing the investment in Aldermore, a U.K. challenger bank focused on SME lending, mortgages and deposits. Neil became a Non-Executive Director for the business in September 2014, ahead of its imminent IPO in 2015 at a valuation of £650 million, and Aldermore was subsequently admitted to the FTSE250 in June 2015. Aldermore was ultimately acquired by First Rand Bank in March 2018 for £1.1 billion, leading to the full exit of AnaCap Financial Partners.

During his time at AnaCap, Neil worked with several banks within the portfolio, focusing on the buildout of the end-to-end residential mortgages, leasing and SME deposits business lines. Neil led due diligence engagements focused on commercial, technology, operations and management on investment targets across Europe, covering digital banking, consumer finance, foreign exchange, payments, custody/fund administration and insurance.

Prior to AnaCap Financial Partners, Neil started his career as a consultant at Oliver Wyman Financial Services where he was involved in a broad range of projects for banking and insurance clients. He covered clients in the U.K., Europe and the U.S. that were predominantly focused on new business launches, strategy development, M&A and risk management.

Neil earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Nottingham and graduated with Honors.
