Teschner

Charles Teschner joined Motive Partners in 2023 and is an Industry Partner based out of the New York office. At Motive, Charles sources and executes investment opportunities in the Data and Analytics vertical, spanning data and content, digital, cloud software and AI businesses. His industry experience includes cloud and non-cloud software, B2B fintech and media businesses, capital markets/exchanges, investment management, commodities and transportation.

Prior to joining Motive Partners, Charles was the CEO of Data and Analytics Solutions at BNY Mellon where, as a direct report to the executive committee, he led the launch and scale up of a large, newly integrated business unit serving the investment industry with Cloud SaaS and Service businesses. This included Eagle Investment Systems and the Data Vault, which managed $45T of data assets for clients. Previously, as an EVP and direct report to the then-CEO of McGraw-Hill Financial / Standard and Poors, he drove the formulation and execution of the Growth and Value Plan which quadrupled the share price through a series of growth initiatives, acquisitions, and divestitures.

In addition to his experience in industry leadership, Charles spent two decades in strategy consulting, advising C-Suites and Boards of blue-chip clients as a Senior Partner and practice leader at Boston Consulting Group and Booz Allen Hamilton. He advised global banks, asset managers, market infrastructure and fintech firms on their most interesting and challenging opportunities. Charles also has significant Fintech and TMT board experience, as an independent director of a VC-backed financial technology company in London, and a director of entities owned by BNY Mellon and Standard and Poors, most notably S&P Dow Jones Indices, the world’s largest index company.

Charles earned a B.A. in Economics from Yale University, an M.B.A. in Finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.A. in Asian Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.
